June 2 2003 - Royal Date for Marc!
Magician Marc Lemezma helped make history this week at the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the coronation. His nimble fingers created literally hundreds of balloon animals for the children attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace and one for the Queen too of course!
Said a somewhat breathless Marc afterwards: "I don't think I've ever blown up so many balloons so fast, but the kids loved them. Occasionally I had to keep them amused with some magic tricks for a few minutes while I got my breath back".
As one of the South East's most popular party entertainers Marc is used to performing for large numbers and at unusual venues, but for him this was a very special party. "I was very honoured to be asked to take part in this event and it will certainly always remain a treasured memory. It was wonderful to be a part of such a happy and joyful day. Although I was thrilled when Her Majesty told me she was impressed with my balloons, what really mattered was that the children were too."

For Better & Better - A REAL Wedding Success Story
CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE WEDDING MAGICIAN http://www.weddingmagician.com/ or at http://www.lemezma.com
Last year I and a handful of friends got together to form The Kent Wedding Network. Our aim was to help eachother get bsuiness and to help couples plan their weddings more effectively.
Here we are a year on doing far more than we could have even dreamed about last year...
So to fill you in - here is a brief article I have written that will be out and about in the wedding press about now.
For Better And Better!
September sees the first anniversary THE Kent wedding success story of 2006.
The Kent Wedding Network was founded last year to help couples find the venues and wedding services they need more easily and to give inspiration to those looking for different ideas for their celebrations.
A year on and they have gone from strength to strength with over 50 members, a string of achievements and lots more to come!
So what is it exactly the Kent Wedding Network does and what is the secret to their success? Chairman and founder Marc Lemezma explains. “Our aim was to create a forum of wedding professionals who could not only help each other do more business but more importantly provide a ‘one-stop shop’ of information and services to help couples make their wedding day truly special.”
“We run on a ‘non-profit’ basis, taking a membership fee from our suppliers and venues that goes directly towards marketing the network. That allows us to sponsor events, attend wedding shows and provide free access to information for brides and couples.”
With everything from some of the County’s premier wedding venues to chocolate fountains and fireworks amongst the membership the Kent Wedding Network seems to have every product or service you could think of available; and probably quite a few you hadn’t thought of.
“We started out hoping to achieve around 30 members by the end of our first year.” added David Hebditch, co-founder and Membership Secretary. “The reality was we had 30 members sign-up in the first month! We now have over 50 members which means we can afford to be very choosey about who we let join us. In fact we now have a growing waiting list!”
With many tens of thousands of pounds of business passed between members and many hundreds of brides and couples receiving the benefit of the member’s expertise you might think it was time for the Kent Wedding Network to sit back and rest on its laurels. Not a bit of it – already this year they conceived and sponsored the UK’s first regional same-sex wedding show at Chilston Park near Lenham.
“There is much more to come.” Marc told us. “We seem to have created a real stir in the wedding marketplace and we know many are rather jealous of our success. That really doesn’t worry us at all, all we know is we are doing a great job for those who really count – the couples and brides of Kent and we will be doing even more next year. We will be making changes to our website to make it a really practical tool for anyone planning a wedding. Also look out for the Kent Wedding Roadshow our own series of exclusive wedding fayres which start soon.”
When asked the secret to the KWN’s success David told us “Put simply it is our positive ‘can do’ attitude and teamwork. With so much expertise in the network we know what couples getting married need and we are dedicated to delivering it.”
So how do a couple or a bride planning their big day get in touch with the Kent Wedding Network? They of course have a website where you can browse the various services available or request assistance if you can’t find what you are looking for. They even have a free phone-line for those do not have access to the internet.
And if you are a wedding supplier looking to join feel free to visit the website too; but you may have to wait months or years to get in!

Just Another Panic Monday!
CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE WEDDING MAGICIAN http://www.weddingmagician.com/ or at http://www.lemezma.com
I am sure The Bangles and Prince won't mind me paraphrasing their song...
But I imagine on mornings such as this there is blind panic amongst those getting married today, indeed the same panic will no doubt spread to anyone holding an outdoor event or celebration.
WHY?
because it is a Bank Holiday Monday and it is bloody raining!
Personally I am not worried about the rain today. This afternoon I will not be working my magic at a wedding, having to face the elements as I spend time with the guests in the garden of the hotel...
...today I have a cushy job!
I will be working INDOORS performing table magic at a nice warm restaurant.
But that is just today, I have unfortunately gotten wet quite a few times this year working at weddings. The weather has not been kind to us this season and even my amazing magic cannot stretch to controlling the elements ;-)
But with all this bad weather affecting weddings a question comes to mind... DOES IT REALLY NEED TO BE A WASHOUT?
The answer is clearly NO, but some planning is required - planning right at the very start of the process of selecting your wedding date and venue.
One venue near me (it shall remain nameless) which can seat about 170 guests has nowhere other than a 10 foot by 10 foot bar area to accommodate people in the case of rain. To make it worse the bar was served by one standard 30 inch doorway!
So there I was cramped into a corner, being pushed from all direction working my magic and making what seemed like hundreds of balloons for the youngsters...
Did I succeed? OF COURSE!
I pride myself on making the best out of any situation and the bride on the day was very grateful recognising that I had played a large part in "saving the day..."
But she did add that with the benefit of hindsight she would not have chosen that venue. It is very beautiful, secluded and the food and service are first class, but there was simply no room in case of bad weather.
There have been other times when I just had to grin and bear it and get wet and thankfully plenty of times at well managed venues - where they had contingency; a marquee, a spare lounge are, a wide open bar even a well appointed health club.
In those situations, although not as pleasant an experience as being outside in the sun, at least everyone could stay dry and comfortable and more importantly relaxed.
So my message to you is this - ask potential venues all the "what if..." questions. Try and contemplate what might go wrong on the day - the weather being the obvious one in this country. See how they respond; is there somewhere for your guests to wait in comfort with a drink and some magical entertainment while the photographs are being taken?
If not, think again...
No one likes to panic on their wedding day!

Kids or no Kids?? It's A Family Affair!
CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE WEDDING MAGICIAN http://www.weddingmagician.com or at http://www.lemezma.com
We have all heard the horror stories, we may even have first hand experience!
Children running amok during the wedding breakfast, continuously crying babies, 10 year olds throwing food all thoroughly messing up the big day.
So many couples refuse to have children at their weddings, or at the very least restrict them to their own children and those of very close family. In a way you can't blame them for being wary as so often kids can be a nightmare.
But it is no wonder that the little ones can be so troublesome, try seeing it from their viewpoint...
Woken up early, not my usual routine.
Stuck in some new stiff clothes I don't like
Driven for 200 miles in Dad's car
Constantly hugged and kissed by Auntie This and Mrs That - YUCK!
Have to sit in the cold church being quiet for an hour.
Not being able to go to the loo when I want!
Hanging around while some old man with a camera takes pictures.
Stuck listening to some boring speeches.
Bless them, weddings are very tough on kids.
But weddings are family affairs and frankly they SHOULD involve children. Surely no one could argue against that.
So what is the answer?
It is simple really, THINK about the kids and make provision for them, here are some ideas.
A Creche - a service where care and activities are provided for the children.
This can be a simple as colouring books etc but could run to games even a Playstation or just a few videos to watch.
Beware though, some kids want to stay with mum or at least run back to her occasionally, its a fact of life. Just let it happen, if you don't there may be tears.
These should be run by properly trained, certified and insured childminders. Check their credentials!
Fun Bags, just like many restaurants provide. A simple selection of colouring books, small toys and a few sweets. There are companies who can provide these for you, often wedding favour providers do this. Or you can make your own.
Do make sure your selection of goodies is suitable for the age range!
Bouncy Castles, great fun if you have the space to accommodate it.
Make sure you hire a manned castle so that someone is always at hand to make sure they are safe.
Its a good idea to not keep the castle up all day. They need a break especially right after dinner.
Entertainment, this is my favourite bit. Some couples hire a children's entertainer as well as a magician. He can do party games, kid's magic and even balloons. A great time to use him is during the speeches or perhaps just after. He can take the kids to another room or the garden and do a show just for them
If he does take them away he will want at least two adults present as typically he is not a child-minder. If one wants to go to the toilet during his show you can only imagine the multiple levels of dilemma he is in!
Fortunately I class myself as one of the few magician who can do a bit of everything so if you are booking me to do close-up magic maybe an extra hour for the kids would work a treat.
No matter who you book to be with your kids there is one thing you simply MUST insist upon.
That is a CRB (Criminal Records bureau) certificate. This will show any convictions and will immediately highlight anyone of a dubious nature - enough said..
Except that I am the proud owner of a clean CRB certificate.
So there you have it a few simple ideas that will open the door and hopefully your minds to the idea of inviting the youngsters to be part of your special day.

Here, There & Everywhere!
CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE WEDDING MAGICIAN http://www.weddingmagician.com
This weekend I will be very busy so I am updating the blog now...
Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex, Herts and Hampshire are all stops in my itinerary and I took a few moments yesterday to contemplate why I was so busy entertaining at so many weddings and other functions...
Magic is such a versatile form of entertainment, especially walk-around, mix & mingle, table magic or close at hand magic as many call it.
It doesn't require a huge stage, it is very personal and people do not need to give up an hour of their valuable time. Each "show" may only last a few minutes - everyone is entertained and has something to talk about for the evening.
I, the wandering magician, can take my bow and move on to the next group or table and start again. So in terms of weddings, magic can fit in anywhere in the day, from after the ceremony (during photos and drinks) through the wedding breakfast or meal right up until the last part of the evening in the bar or out in the gardens - especially in summer!
Thus it is the perfect form of entertainment for weddings, a couple can decide where their day needs a lift and hire a guy like me to work his magic. Over the last few years it really has become immensely popular and thus good quality magicians find themselves moving from one wedding to the next on a regular basis.
The secret to success is leaving enough time between your engagements to allow for traveling, road works and inevitable wedding delays.
For me it is an amazing trend - I like working at happy events and there are none happier than weddings - so being as I am increasingly in demand I am being called from all over the country to help make wedding days even more special.
At least I usually get Mondays off. Well I used to but, so many folks are getting married during the week and regularly on Sundays that I rarely get a chance to relax - but I don't mind as long as I can make your wedding day that little bit extra special.

Let Me Entertain You
CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE WEDDING MAGICIAN http://www.weddingmagician.comHere's an article wot I wrote a year ago for "A Kentish Wedding Magazine" about the changes in modern wedding entertainment
Traditionally the most entertaining thing we could hope to see at a wedding was the Best Man messing up his speech or a drunken Uncle making a fool of himself on the dance floor.
Weddings are changing and modern couples are looking for new ways to make their day not only special but also unique. So how do you go about choosing entertainment that is not only right for you but is also exciting and different for your guests?
A good place to start is to have a look at the flow of your day and consider where you will be and what your guests will be doing. Although you will be constantly on your toes having your pictures taken and being the centre of attention, your guests will quite often have long periods hanging around or being sat at a table with people they have never met before.
Another point to consider is the style and mood you wish to set for the day. This will of course be an important factor in your choice of venue; but if you mix in the wrong kind of music the atmosphere can turn sour very quickly.
And what about the kids? They can be difficult at the best of times and weddings can make them even more fractious. Many couples choose not to invite children because they are scared they will spoil the day with constant crying and running around. But isn’t a wedding supposed to be for the whole family? Perhaps providing some entertainment for the little ones is something worth considering too.
Nowadays there are a lot more entertainment options available to make your day even more perfect. Magicians are very quickly becoming the “must have” for your wedding day because they offer an enormous amount of flexibility and can fit in almost anywhere.
For example a strolling magician can break the monotony of the long wait for the photos to be completed with amazing close-up trickery and even delightful balloon modelling for the youngsters.
During the meal he can act as an amazing ice-breaker and will certainly give your guests something to talk about!
Or how about a special show just for the kids, perhaps during the speeches or when the dining room is being re-set for the evening?
Music has always been a mainstay of wedding entertainment and today there are many more options available to you than in the past. Classical ensembles are increasingly popular, perhaps playing after the ceremony or during the wedding breakfast. A real touch of class and certainly far more atmospheric than playing a CD through the hotel’s speakers!
Discos and bands remain firm favourites. But in the 21st century, the age of celebrity, why not astound your guests with a personal appearance by a World-Class act such as Abba, Tom Jones or even Robbie Williams.
Sound expensive? Not a bit of it! For nowadays there is a wide choice of quality tribute acts offering you the chance to entertain your guests with “world famous” comedians, singers and bands at a realistic price.
